To provide to the citizens of Renton quality of life opportunities through leisure time activities and Human Services Programs. This includes maintaining parks, trails, facilities, libraries, a museum, and offering a variety of recreational activities for people of all ages. The department also provides information and referral programs.

Operates and maintains City buildings and Park facility buildings and manages the Capital Improvement Program which provides planning, design and construction management services for City building projects. Phone: 425-430-6600.

The focal point for information and referral for City of Renton residents and agencies. The Division coordinates and collaborates with service providers to deliver services to low and moderate income households. Provide a comprehensive and interrelated system of parks, recreation, open spaces and trails that responds to locally-based needs, values and conditions, provides an appealing and harmonious environment, and protects the integrity and quality of the surrounding natural systems; create a sustainable and exemplary urban forest.
Provides opportunities for the public to participate in diversified programs of recreational activities designed to meet the needs of all Renton area citizens. These programs include preschool, youth, teen and adult leisure programs; youth, teen and adult athletics; fitness and wellness programs; outdoor recreational opportunities; cultural arts programs and programs designed to provide social and recreational opportunities to senior citizens and those with special needs. You can now sign up for recreation classes via the internet with Cyber SignUP, a fast, convenient, and efficient service that allows residents to sign up or view classes twenty-four hours-a-day, seven days-a-week. If you have registered for a class in the past six months, just use your family pin number and participant bar code to register on-line via a secure network connection. If you are not a current customer, and would like to receive a family PIN and participant barcode, please call 425-430-6700 or visit the Renton Community Center, located at 1715 Maple Valley Highway.

Located in a historic fire station in downtown Renton, the Renton History Museum is the center for the history of greater Renton. The museum offers education exhibits, programs, events, volunteer opportunities, and a small research library that is open to the public. Phone: 425-255-2330.

The Community Resources and Events Division provides opportunities for individuals, groups, and businesses to partner with the City to facilitate funding and services that support or improve the quality of our operations.
