Renton to observe Independence Day

City of Renton government offices will observe Independence Day on Friday, July 4 and will be closed. All offices will be back on a normal schedule Monday, July 7.

Duvall Ave. Construction & DetoursDuvall Ave. Construction & Detours

Renton Announces Installation of Speed Camera at McKnight Middle School

30-Day Warning Period to begin July 1

The city’s first permanent speed camera is being installed on Edmonds Ave. NE near McKnight Middle School.  After the warning period, the registered owner of the offending car will receive a ticket for $124.00 if the 20 mph school zone speed limit is exceeded by 6 to 15 mph and $250.00 if the speed limit is exceeded by 16 mph or more. READ MORE

On June 1, 2008 the City of Renton also began issuing citations to red-light traffic camera violators at select intersections throughout the city. As of June 1, the registered owner of the offending car will receive a ticket for $124. Read the press release or visit the web page.

Renton Farmers Market at the Piazza

The Renton Farmers Market has st arted up again every Tuesday at the Piazza 3-7 p.m. For more information, call 425.679.1502 or visit www.rentonfarmersmarket.com.

Parking is limited at Renton City Hall.

In order to provide adequate short term parking for visitors to Renton City Hall, and to minimize traffic congestion, parking on upper level (P3) , will be limited to 2 hours.

Additional parking will be available at Sam's Club, on the east side of their main parking lot.  Please note that overflow parking is not allowed near their loading dock.  SEE MAP (pdf).

WSDOT Projects

WSDOT is making improvements to State Route 515 between SE 192nd and Benson Rd. and to I-405 and SR 167.  Stay updated about lane closures and construction related to the I-405 and SR167 projects at the WSDOT website.

HOT lanes (high occupancy toll lanes) are a new option for solo drivers on SR 167. They are scheduled to open on Saturday, May 3.  Read more.

Eastside Rail Corridor Informational Open House in Renton - July 10, 7-9 p.m.

The Port of Seattle is hosting an Eastside Rail Corridor Informational Open House in at Kennydale Elementary School Cafeteria, 1700 NE 28th Street  Renton. The public is invited to learn more about the purchase and sale agreement, the transaction timeline and plans for public involvement. For additional information regarding the Eastside Rail Corridor, visit the Port of Seattle.

The City has contracted with Census Services to conduct a special census of the New Life - Aqua Barn Annexation Area. Read more.

Enjoy Renton’s 23rd annual summer teen musical at Carco Theatre. “Once Upon a Mattress”, a hilarious comedy based on the fairy tale the “Princess and the Pea” is playing from July 25 through August 10, Friday through Sunday. 

The blockbuster schedule at Renton’s outdoor cinema features the best in popular movies on Saturday nights, July 12 through August 23 at Liberty Park. Seating opens at 7:00 p.m.
