Storage capacity at Howard Hanson Dam temporarily restricted

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, announces that storage capacity at Howard Hanson Dam will be temporarily restricted to safely continue the process of evaluating damage on the right abutment discovered following a recent high flood control pool at the dam. Read more.  Watch the Council video presentation.

Online Court Payments

Renton Municipal Court is now accepting online payments for traffic infractions, fines, fees and other costs. Visa and MasterCard debit or credit cards are accepted. Read more.

2010 Census coming soon

The 2010 Census is coming March 15-17, 2010. Census forms will be sent via the U.S. mail. Forms need to be returned by April 1 in the envelope provided. Information provided will not be shared with anyone, and the form does not ask for Social Security numbers or financial information. Each person counted means $1,400 in annual federal support for the State and the City of Renton. Over the next ten years (the next time the census is done) that adds up to $14,000 for each person counted. For more information, please visit www.2010census.gov or call 1-866-872-6868.

People are encouraged to be cooperative, but also cautious and take the following precautions.  Census workers will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Make sure you check their identification and their badge before answering questions. Do not provide any financial information including social security number, credit card or banking information. Census Bureau will not contact you by email, so be on the lookout for email scams impersonating the Census.  For more information.
